Richard Ridley
[1997 to present]

Richard has been with the Barbary Coast Cloggers since 1997, with his first performance being at the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival in 1999.  Richard has been a Deputy Sheriff for 21 years. He grew up all over the United States (including Alaska) and graduated from high school and attended college in New Mexico where he majored in Civil Engineering.

Richard started country-western dancing in 1991 and was hooked when he saw the Jus' Country Cloggers perform in Santa Cruz in 1993. He learned clogging with them and joined their group in the following year.  He enjoys the camaraderie with the other dancers as well as the discipline and the traditions of clogging.

Richard enjoys bicycling and rode in the California (SF to LA) Aids Ride 4 in 1997. He and his partner, Steve, also enjoy photography and wine, are avid travelers and love the challenge of fixing-up their 60 year-old house in the East Bay.
